I really want Pune to have a skyline like Mumbai but I also don’t want the greenery to be sacrificed.

I came here in 2014 but lived in Hinjewadi for the first few months. When I shifted to the city after 6 months or so, I fell in love with it almost instantly. It reminded me of my home. It was green, peaceful, the shops would be shut between 1 and 4. I loved everything about the city. I still do.

I have lived in many different parts of the city – Hinjewadi, Chandani Chowk, Wakad, Baner, Bavdhan, Hadapsar, Viman Nagar, Koregaon Park. And never have I not enjoyed staying here. But sometimes when I see the flashy architecture, long bridges, the sea, and that skyline of Mumbai, I get a feeling of FOMO. Probably because being a guy in my 30s I’ve never experienced those things. Even the metro city I am from originally doesn’t have as much of those things as Mumbai.

But at the same time, I can’t think of Pune without its greenery, and the beautiful Sahyadris surrounding her. The beautiful backroads, and the calm, relaxed nature of the city. The beautiful rains (or at least how they used to be). The Ganpati festival and also the Durga Pujos here (very small scale compared to my hometown). But whenever I’ve stayed back here, I’ve not regretted it. Or missed my hometown all that much.

It’s like being torn between two things – one of them is a fantasy that you want, and the other is a reality that you cherish. And the chances of those two coinciding is next to impossible.
